Dave Howard
David Howard was one of Michael’s many close friends, and he shared the love of the game of basketball also. Dave Howard played high school Basketball at Whitney M. Young Magnet High School where he was a three year varsity player. He also played with Michael at Waubonsee Community College and Moraine Valley Community College. Due to multiple knee surgeries Dave gave up playing basketball and placed even more emphasis on his academics. Dave has gone on to receive multiple degrees (AA – Liberal Arts and Studies, Moraine Valley CC, BA – Psychology, DePaul University, MA – Counseling, DePaul University).
Dave works as a School Counselor for Chicago Public Schools and is the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Moraine Valley Community College.
Dave knows that he is extremely blessed and believes that God has placed him on this earth to empower youth with knowledge not only on the basketball court, but also in everyday life situations using a Christ centered perspective. He is equipped with the coaching philosophy of “Teaching life through basketball”, and he is grateful to be a part of the Michael Lee Simms Basketball Camp organization.
